How Does CP Work?
How can your church be involved in this effort:
•First, you give your undesignated gifts to the Lord through your church in the offering taken during the morning worship time, in Sunday School or at other times the church receives offerings.
•Second, your church sends monies to the Missouri Baptist Convention according to the percentage or amount voted on by the church. This is usually determined at the time the church adopts the church budget.
•Next, the Missouri Baptist Convention distributes the monies received according to the Cooperative Program budget adopted by the messengers at the previous MBC annual meeting.
•Finally, the Southern Baptist Convention disburses the funds they receive from the state conventions to the International Mission Board, the North American Mission Board, the Annuity Board, The Religious Liberty Commission, the six Southern Baptist seminaries, and the SBC Executive Committee. These funds are also distributed according to the budget adopted by the messengers from SBC churches at the previous annual meeting of the convention. Missouri Baptists send 35.75 % of the Cooperative Program gifts on to the SBC with the remaining 64.25 % used to carry out missions and ministries within Missouri.
The monies your church sends through Cooperative Program are funding mission efforts around the globe the following month. The cooperative Program truly is caring people partnering together to touch the world.
