Faith is an ongoing, comprehensive evangelism, ministry, and assimilation strategy which functions through your existing Sunday School.
WHY YOU SHOULD CONSIDER BECOMING A FAITH CHURCH?
This process equips and mobilizes Sunday School members to accomplish ministry through:
1. Personal evangelism/soul winning.
2. Follow-up of new believers.
3. Assimilation and discipleship.
4. Reclaiming absentees.
5. Ministry to Sunday School enrollees and Church membership.
6. Ministry to community.
WHAT IS THE HISORY OF THE FAITH STRATEGY?
The Faith Sunday School Evangelism Strategy began in 1985 as a grassroots, practical, consistent ministry of the First Baptist Church of Daytona Beach, Florida. It grew out of the desire to reach unchurched persons living in the Daytona Beach area. 12 years in the development, FAITH has became one of the more effective outreach strategies of today. In 1998, 28 churches, of varying sizes across the Southern Baptist Convention, were invited to pilot the Faith Strategy. Since then, leadership from more than 6,700 churches have been trained and equipped in the FAITH strategy. More than 200 here in Missouri.
HOW IS FAITH DIFFERENT FROM OTHER EVANGELISM STRATEGIES?
Sunday School is the one organization in the church charged with the responsibility for reaching people. FAITH is organized to function through the present Sunday School structure rather than design a “new” organization. The goal of FAITH is to have at least one three member FAITH team from each Sunday School unit who will make visits and perform ministry for and through that Sunday School unit.
WHAT CHURCHES CAN DO FAITH?
Any church of any size or location with s Sunday School and a pastor who is willing to take the lead role in developing the strategy can do it.
FACTS ABOUT THE FAITH SUNDAY SCHOOL EVANGELISM STRATEGY
1. FAITH teams are made up of three members.
2. FAITH is effective with youth as well as adults.
3. FAITH requires that the pastor be the key leader and attend a clinic training event.
4. FAITH uses a very simple, easily learned, gospel presentation.
5. FAITH is not taught during the Sunday School hour.
6. FAITH training is conducted over a 16 week semester.
