My Personal Bravery Story

“The Lord is my strength, my personal bravery, and my invincible army; He makes my feet like hinds’ feet and will make me walk (not stand still in terror, but to walk) and make spiritual progress upon my high places of trouble, suffering, or responsibility.” Habakkuk 3:19
As I write this today, I have been faced with the reality that I will be undergoing chemotherapy to treat Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia. I was diagnosed in January of 2009. Since then, my white blood count has risen every three months, the platelets counts have gone down. Not a good combination! I went to my oncologists on Monday, April 5 and was told that the time had come to consider chemo. Ugh! No one wants to hear that! I could feel the Lord’s presence immediately when I asked, “When do I start?” The answer was, “Today or next week!” Today seemed so close, next week so far away! I figured since the Lord gave me the opportunity to start treatments that day, who I was to argue with Him? I will accept this time of struggle and praise God that He is with me all the way, everyday. I will have one week of chemo, three weeks off, then repeat the procedure until such time that the counts are where they should be. I share this with you, my dear friends, as an example of the “Personal Bravery” I’m struggling with right now. You may not be facing chemo treatments. Perhaps the area where you need additional strength and encouragement is completely different. Regardless of the details, we all face issues where we need added strength and every fear and doubt is real. God will never leave us nor forsake us; He will never take us where He will not sustain us. Trust the Lord with your areas of trouble, suffering, or responsibility. He is our Strength.
Do you have a story of personal bravery that you would like to share with us? We would love to hear how God has worked in your life and brought you through victorious. If you have a story to share with the BSAM group, please email me at fbcbuffalo@yahoo.com.
