Amy Boff currently serves as our BSAM President and is in her fifth year of service on the BSAM Board. She has just completed 9 years on the staff of First Baptist Church of Branson. Amy is celebrating her 20th wedding anniversary with her husband, Rick this year. Together they have two sons, Josh, 17 and Luke, 16.

Amy came to know the Lord at the age of 5 and has always been active in her walk with Christ. While life has not always been perfect, she can clearly see God’s hand of protection and blessing interwoven through her life. One of Amy’s favorite bible studies is on the life of David; just as God deemed David “a man after His own heart” that’s what Amy’s earnest spiritual desire is as well, to be a woman after God’s own heart.

In Amy’s spare time, her first choice always is spending time with her husband, and children. But, she also enjoys reading, cooking, photography, and scrapbooking as well as completing a Business Administration degree online.

Amy is passionate about women’s ministry whether it’s her involvement in her local church or with the BSAM organization, God is doing amazing things in the lives of women and considers it an awesome privilege to even have a small part in it.

President Elect
Muriel Elder
St Joseph Baptist Association
4608 Mitchell Avenue
St. Joseph, MO 64507
816-233-2504
muriel@stjosephbaptistassociation.org

Muriel Elder serves as our BSAM President Elect, having previously served as secretary/treasurer. Muriel has served as the Publications Ministry Assistant for the St. Joseph Baptist Association since January 1999.

Married to her high school sweetheart (and currently her boss), Clyde, the Director of Missions for the St. Joseph Baptist Association, they have served together in many ministry positions in churches through Missouri and Kansas for over thirty-four years.

Muriel and her husband are active members of McCarthy Baptist Church in St. Joseph and have three grown children. Their oldest, Andrea, is married and teaches band in Oklahoma. The second, Nathan, is married and is the worship pastor for a church in Texas. He and his wife have a son, Ashton, who is also the first grandchild. The youngest, Jessica, is currently working as a ministry assistant at a church in St. Joseph.

A native of Kansas, Muriel grew up in a Christian home. Saved at age 12 at a youth revival in her home church, she realized that being a Christian was more than just “living” like one, but the turning of her entire life over to the Lord. “He has never failed to carry me through all the tough times of my life. When Clyde was diagnosed with cancer the Lord brought us through in such an amazing way. I truly believe only the Lord could have put everything into motion to bring us to where we are today. Faith isn’t just a word, it is an action!”

In what little spare time she has she likes to spend time with her family, garden, cook, sew, craft, and travel when time allows.

“I have enjoyed serving on BSAM. It is an honor to serve others who share the same day in and day out activities that I do. Since we may be the only secretary in the office, I think we sometimes forget that there are other secretaries out there that face the same problems, etc. that we face and it is a nice reminder to know that we are not alone. It has given me more insight into what other secretaries do and the problems, situations they face on a daily basis and how they handle them. I like the camaraderie we have when we get together. BSAM offers so much to the secretaries and I hope we can get more secretaries to take advantage of what we have to offer.”

Connie Derks serves as Membership Vice-President, this is Connie’s first year on the BSAM board. Connie is in her sixth year of service on the staff of First Baptist, Buffalo. She has the best house husband anyone could ever ask for and doesn’t see retirement in her future!

Connie has been married to Larry for 41 years. Before moving to Buffalo in 1998, they had lived in Belton, MO for 30 years. Larry retired from AT&T in Lee’s Summit. Connie was a stay-at-home mom for seventeen years before going out into the work world. She had served as the Executive Director of the Belton Chamber of Commerce for two years before moving to Buffalo. They have five children scattered in Missouri, South Carolina, Connecticut and Florida. They also have 12 grandchildren.

Connie was saved and baptized at the age of 19 while pregnant with her first child. She has a wonderful story of how the Lord calms all fears, “I had always been deathly afraid of water, wouldn’t even go swimming for fear of getting my head in the water! How do you get baptized and not get dunked? That was my first question! God answered that question by telling me, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’ He didn’t and hasn’t after all these years.”

Connie looks forward to serving on the BSAM board. At her first conference she was overwhelmed by what those board members must do “behind the scenes” and didn’t even dream that one day God would call her to be a part of this ministry.

Connie lives in the country and enjoys reading, cooking, sewing, genealogy, and is in the beginning stages of computer scrap booking.

Jane is from a small church and knows the need of support and knowledge that can be obtained from fellow secretaries and leaders. Historian
Saralie Morgan
Second Baptist Poplar Bluff
503 W Pine Street
Poplar Bluff, MO 63901
573-785-3336
sbc@semo.net

Saralie Morgan serves as our BSAM Historian. Saralie has served at Second Baptist, Poplar Bluff, Missouri for 37 years (since she was 21 years old). Saralie’s 92 year old mother lives with Saralie and she has a better memory than all of her children combined. Saralie has one daughter, Laura, who is married to Jon Mabry, a career army sergeant with 1 ½ years until retirement (at 38 years old!) They are stationed in Savannah, Georgia, where she teaches 7th grade. Saralie has one grandson, Hunter, 12 years old, and one granddaughter, Jayci, age 6. The highlight of her last trip to Savannah was seeing her son-in-law and grandson baptized.

Saralie came to know the Lord at the age of 12. She was raised in a Christian home by Godly parents who had her in church every time the doors were open. Saralie’s husband left her and Laura after 12 years of marriage. Saralie looks back on that time when she felt so close to Christ and could feel his peace and protection over her and Laura.

In Saralie’s spare time she enjoys playing with the grandchildren, reading, playing the piano, and playing dominoes with her weekly church family group.

Saralie attended her first BSAM conference 32 years ago at Windermere. She enjoys serving on the BSAM group with other Baptist secretaries. “There is a bond between us that can only be explained by our relationship with the Lord.”
