We are excited to share with you the 2010 version of – “Show-Me Sunday” – our third annual State-Wide Sunday School High Attendance Day emphasis in Missouri. Our theme this year comes from Luke 5:4 & 10 - "Cast out into deep water and let down your nets for a catch...Don't be afraid, from now on you will be catching people!"
The emphasis is not intended to produce large numbers that would be reported to one central location, but rather a way to help churches emphasize the importance of Sunday School and each member taking responsibility to invite friends, relatives, associates and neighbors to come be a part of Bible Study.
Again this year, we have left the date blank on the promotional poster so that each church can decide when they would like to emphasize "Show-Me Sunday". Our suggested date is Sunday, October 31, 2010. This will be the fifth Sunday of the month and is the traditional Sunday in SBC life for Sunday School High Attendance Day. This date does not coincide with the last day of Daylight Savings Time (November 7th), but many churches may decide to tie in an event like "Trunk or Treat" or "Fall Harvest Festival" with their "Show-Me Sunday" emphasis.
The Show-Me Sunday High Attendance Day is a choice opportunity for your church to give a fresh expression of compassion for members and prospects of all ages who need Bible study. Your emphasis can be a one day event on Show-Me Sunday or it could be a four or five week long campaign and include some or all of these events:
- emphasizing a special age group each week;
- setting a weekly Sunday School attendance goal;
- setting an enrollment goal for new Sunday School members;
- planning prospect discovery events;
- conducting weekly Show-Me visitation nights; and
- conducting a Show-Me high attendance/evangelism day to conclude the emphasis.

In conjunction with GPS (God's Plan for Sharing), your church could emphasize "Soul Winning Commitment Sunday" on October 3rd as part of the "Show-Me Sunday" Campaign and encourage members to invite someone they know who is lost or unchurched to Sunday School and Worship that day. "Baptism Sunday" could be part of the "Show-Me Sunday" Campaign as well on October 31st, with the baptism of those won to Christ during the month being a focal point of the worship service that morning.

We hope you will consider using the Show-Me Sunday emphasis as a part of your Fall Sunday School Kick-off or sometime during the year. If possible, we would love to hear from you about how your church used the emphasis and what the results were. We may use your church’s story in an article for The Pathway. And be sure to include pictures if you have them!
