MMO tops $723,000

January 25, 2005

JEFFERSON CITY – Total receipts for the Rheubin L. South Missouri Missions Offering (MMO) through the 2004 giving season were $723,687. Money from MMO reserves was used to build the offering to $750,000, which was the goal for 2004, thus enabling all ministries to be fully funded this year, according to Missouri Baptist Convention (MBC) Associate Director David Waganer.

Most of the MMO money that was raised will go toward missions, church planting, compassion ministries and evangelism in the 2005 MBC budget.

“I’m encouraged that the 2004 MMO Offering went as well as it did,” Waganer said. “We did receive more than we did last year, but not quite the goal. So I’m encouraged and a little disappointed. We do want to thank the people of Missouri for their kind contributions to the MMO.”

The 2003 offering from 992 churches was at $707,059. Fifteen fewer churches participated in the 2004 MMO.
