JEFFERSON CITY – The Partnership Missions Department of the Missouri Baptist Convention (MBC) is offering a one-day training seminar for short-term mission trips March 11 at 10 a.m. in the Baptist Building. This will be the first year for the training event.

“We had 41,687 Missouri Baptists last year that have gone on mission somewhere either in our state, in another state, or overseas,” said MBC Partnership Missions Specialist Norm Howell. “With that, we want to offer very good training by people who have experienced missions first-hand who can help to equip our Missouri Baptist churches with the best-quality training we can offer them right now.”

A total of six training sessions will be taught. Instructors and categories are as follows: David Groves, pastor, Living Word Baptist Church, Poplar Bluff, medical missions; Jerry Field, MBC director of church planting, church planting; Bob Caldwell, MBC director of evangelism, evangelism; Vivian McCaughan, Woman’s Missionary Union/Women’s Missions & Ministry specialist, women’s ministry; Sondi Scroggins, MBC preschool/children’s Sunday School specialist, children’s ministry; and Howell, finance.

The sessions will last about one hour and 45 minutes apiece and will be offered in both the morning and the afternoon.

There is no cost for the training time, and lunch is provided.

“We’re hoping that this will be an annual thing,” Howell said.
