Crossover Springfield prayer walk training, registration set

September 15, 2002

SPRINGFIELD—Prior to the "seed sowing" of Crossover MBC/Springfield, a major prayer walk of the Springfield area is needed that will provide the prayer cover needed for the Oct. 26-27 community-wide events. Church prayer groups are being enlisted and trained to join together for a coordinated prayer walk to take place Oct. 19. An information and commitment letter is being sent to all of the churches of the Green County Baptist Association and surrounding sister associations, requesting commitment and participation of prayer groups planning to be a part of the prayer walk.

The prayer committee for the Crossover event, Frank Ross, pastor of Glendale Baptist Church, Craig Fields, pastor of Jefferson Avenue Baptist Church, along with MBC Prayer Coordinator Jim Bryant, have set up the prayer training for prayer groups to take place from 9:00 a.m. until noon Oct. 12, at the Glendale Baptist Church at 2236 S. Ingram Mill Road, Springfield. All churches within the area and those assisting from other areas of the state that have prayer groups to participate are urged to let the host church know of their intent as soon as possible. By letter please indicate the number of persons attending from your church, along with a contact name and telephone. Send the information to Frank Ross, 2236 S. Ingram Mill Road, Springfield.

The prayer training will be led by Bryant, and he will be using "Taking Prayer to the Streets", material developed by Thomas Wright, an associate in the Prayer/Evangelism Unit of the North American Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention.

This material resource made a significant contribution to the prayer cover provided for the evangelism teams at Crossover St. Louis 2002, which resulted in more than 2,000 conversions during the week prior to the Southern Baptist Convention.
