JEFFERSON CITY – Missouri Baptists contributed $707,059 to the 2003 Missouri Mission Offering (MMO), more than $80,000 more than the 2002 offering.

The MMO offering fell short of the MMO goal of $750,000. The amount given in 2002 was $624,930. Jay Hughes, Missouri Baptist Convention controller, said adjustments will be made to the MMO budget to enable the offering to be used effectively.

Original budgeted amounts for MMO were:

Church Planting: Church planting, $100,000, congregational assistance, $100,000; multi-housing church planting, $3,500.

Direct Evangelism: Evangelism block party trailer, $16,000; evangelism tent, $10,000; multicultural evangelism events, $5,500.

Student Evangelism: Youth evangelism, $10,000; youth evangelism conference, $10,000; sports evangelism, $8,000; international student ministries, $7,000.

Missions: Student summer missionaries, $133,000; associational partnerships, $67,500; MMO promotions, $39,000; Missouri partnership missions, $34,000; small church ministry fund, $24,000; Missouri Baptist scholarships, $15,000; multicultural church growth conference, $3,500.

Compassion Ministries: Missouri Baptist Children’s Home, $96,000; disaster relief, $30,000; Freeway Foundation, $23,000; and hunger relief, $15,000.
