Cajón Instructions
Cajón Instructions - A new type of instrument is making the scene. Youth groups are using them as a cheap and portable answer to the drumset.
John Francis built this hand drum and his step-by-step directions (pdf format) show you how.
The Children's Choir Leadership Workshop will be held on July 24-25, 2009 at the Baptist Building in Jefferson City. The theme this year is "Strong Tower." Come and be a part of this training event for children's choir leaders that will help you get ready for the new choir year.
Those leading this year are:
Anita Wagoner - Preschool
Virginia Harper - Younger Children
Pamela Vandewalker - Older Children
John Francis - Combined Choirs
Martha Hicks - Choir Coordinators
Annette Tracy - Drums, Orff & Singing Games
If you haven’t already ordered your Children’s Choir literature for the fall, we have a deal for you if you are coming to the Children’s Choir Leadership Workshop. Debbie Richerson and the Midwestern LifeWay Bookstore will be at the conference and can save you and your church money and time by providing all the literature you will need for Children's Choir next fall. By letting Debbie know the quantities of Music Time, Music Makers, and Young Musicians kits, books, and CDs you will need, you will save an average of $25 to $30. Contact Debbie by email at Debbie.Richerson@lifeway.com or by phone at 816-455-3925 and see how much she can save you on your order.
For three years, the question has been, “what can we do for the choir?” I present to you the Worship Choir Retreat. It is so worth the wait.
I am so excited about this Worship Choir Retreat. We usually call this time the Worship Leadership Conference. However, there are some unique opportunities this year that have made themselves available to us.
·We have two heavy-hitters in the choir realm instructing us, David Williamson, of the Worship Leading Choir, and Jim Faull, of the WorshiPlanner. These two men have such incredible knowledge and experience in choirs.
·David Williamson has a new Men’s Choir Collection, and he has agreed to direct an observation-room style choir rehearsal, featuring all men attending this conference as the choir.
·Jim Faull, our other clinician, has crafted how to Create and Maintain Your Choir’s Momentum replete with a literal map of what a progressive, purposeful choir rehearsal is to look like.
·LifeWay and MBC are supplying you free music.
·The typical great SWAG (Stuff WeAll Get) you’ve come to expect at these events.
·The Missouri Music Men is now part of the Missouri Baptist Convention.
We will also rehearse a humongous men’s choir, so if you are a man, you will be asked to sing in this choir, ladies are welcome to sit in on the rehearsal, and the classes at a reduced registration price. (Sorry, soon we will have to have a Women’s Choir track).
This year, we will be solely emphasizing choir. There will be no audio/visual track this year, nor will there be any break-out sessions. It’s practically all Dave and Jim (with a little LifeWay and MBC housekeeping thrown in).
I hope that this year’s change-up will not inconvenience you in any way. I am simply committed to taking advantage of the opportunities that the Lord brings our across our transom, and looking for ways that we can better serve you, the worship leader.
Please, bring a friend and register for the Worship Choir Retreat here in Jefferson City, September 11-12, 2009 at the Concord Baptist Church. It will forever change the way you do choir!
